The construction of a specialised Life Sciences Technology Development Center is starting at the Vilnius City Innovation Industrial Park

At the end of 2023, the construction of a specialized Technology Development Center dedicated to life sciences began in the Vilnius City Innovation Industrial Park. The building will be adapted for scientific research and applied activities and the most of the building’s area will be occupied by specialized life sciences laboratories, and office premises.

“The Technology development center is a very important part of the ecosystem of the Vilnius City Innovation Industrial Park. It will give VCIIP the opportunity to attract sustainable companies operating in the field of life sciences and create physical conditions for the faster development of innovations and technologies developed by them”, says the CEO of Northtown Vilnius, operator of VCIIP Dr. Gediminas Pauliukevičius and adds that this is the first building of this type in Vilnius after quite a long time. “Such spaces where life sciences companies could settle in premises adapted to them are rare, even though they have a fairly high demand. For us, this center is one of the most important highlights in strengthening the ecosystem of life sciences, in order to achieve the kind of industry growth that is expected and that is foreseen in the state‘s vision”, – says G. Pauliukevičius.

The area of the future modern, economical, environmentally friendly science and high-tech building will reach more than 4,000 square meters. It will include laboratory, public and administrative premises. The value of the project will reach more than 10 million Eur, and the end of construction is expected in the third quarter of 2025. “With the construction of the Technology Development Center, we are ending the year 2023, which was full of changes for VCIIP. This year, 2 contracts were signed with new investors operating in the fields of smart specialization of Health technologies and biotechnology – “Pentasweet” and “BioProcess Solutions”, the doors of the international school providing the highest quality education services “British School of Vilnius” opened in the Park, the “Stem Cell Research Center“ received the permission for an exclusive 3000 m2 3D tissue bioprinting R&D and production building, and the design and construction works of other investors’ buildings are also accelerating,” says G. Pauliukevičius.

In order to ensure the integrity of the VCIIP territory, street construction works were also implemented this year. In the southern part of the VCIIP territory, the operator of the park formed a finite ring of Vismaliukai Street, connecting the existing branches of the already equipped streets, which were installed in 2015. The constructed ~446 m D category street with engineering networks project includes a street with 7 sections, sidewalks and bike paths, water supply, domestic and rainwater networks, development of the communication cable channel system, installation of a water pressure boosting station, installation of gas supply, electricity and lighting networks. Also, the land plots located at Vismaliukų st. 34 and Miškadvarios str. 6 were combined, an equipped street with communications ensures the integrity of the VCIIP territory and the full development of communications throughout the territory.

According to the VCIIP Operator, the territory of VCIIP will change even more in the coming years – investors “Biotecha” will emerge in the Park, a little later VCIIP will also start building its new research centers “Stem Cell Research Center”, “Imunodiagnostika” and “Domus Naturae”, “CMB Biotechnologies”. Therefore, soon, when the investors‘ settlement works are completed, and a specialized life sciences Technology Development Center will operate the VCIIP territory will become a city within a city.
