Another biotechnology company is being established at Vilnius City Innovation Industrial Park

Another biotechnology company will be located in Vilnius City Innovation Industrial Park (VCIIP) – “Sanobiotec”, implementing R&D activities and already executing innovative research project in the field of oncology with partner, the National Cancer Institute.

The agreement signed between Vilnius Innovation Industrial Park operator Northtown Technology Par and “Sanobiotec”envisages that the company will establish in the 55-acre plot, building a research and experimental development center and administrative premises. Construction is expected to begin in November 2019, and the company plans to operate in the new premises from 2021 onwards. It is expected that “Sanobiotec’s” investments will reach up to 8 million Eur, and up to 80 new jobs will be created.

“The signed agreement with “Sanobiotec” further strengthens the trend of Vilnius City Innovation Industrial Park that we are attractive to strong and advanced companies operating in the fields of smart specialization, and especially in the health technology and biotechnology sector,” says Gediminas Pauliukevičius, CEO of Northtown Technology Park, operator of VCIIP.

“Sanobiotec’s” main areas of activity are the isolation and purification of phytochemicals, their use in pharmaceuticals and health care products, and the research and development of widely consumed and innovative products.

“Our laboratory studies naturally occurring compounds, synthesizes their biologically active analogues, and evaluates their potential in the health and pharmaceutical markets. And taking into account global trends and potential, we aim to expand our activities into industries related to health technologies and biotechnologies, agro-innovations and food technologies, ” says Rytis Vincentas Urbonas, director of “Sanobiotec”.

So far, two companies have established in Vilnius City Innovation Industrial Park: the construction of the laboratory of the Lithuanian capital engineering industry company Poliprojektas is halfway through, and one of the most promising Finnish innovative companies, Experimentica, will soon start its establishment.

In the near future, the Northtown Technology Park plans to build and equip 2,000 sq. m. business incubator for young technological manufacturing companies and researchers. Branches of two research and study institutions will also be established here, where students, researchers and doctoral students will have the opportunity to realize their ideas in cooperation with already advanced VCIIP-based high-tech manufacturing companies. The aim will be to ensure synergy of VCIIP companies – it is planned to establish at least 6 clusters in the territory.
