Aeriva and Litcargus begin establishing operations at VCIIP Bio to develop personalised nutrition solutions for air passengers

UAB Aeriva and UAB Litcargus are beginning to establish operations at Vilnius City Innovation Industrial Park (VCIIP Bio), where they plan to develop personalised nutrition solutions for air passengers.

The agreement signed between Northtown Vilnius, the operator of Vilnius City Innovation Industrial Park (VCIIP), and the investors provides for the expansion of production capacity, the development of innovative solutions and the implementation of advanced technologies designed to enable airlines to offer passengers a new level of in-flight catering services.

As part of the project, the companies plan to develop an AI-powered forecasting system that will use accumulated flight data to model the food quality and composition parameters and meal selection best suited to each specific flight. This would allow catering services to better reflect passengers’ wellbeing and nutritional needs while also reducing food waste.

By early 2029, the companies plan to invest €3.5 million in R&D and production infrastructure at VCIIP Bio.

“Growing passenger focus on health and wellbeing during flights is driving the aviation catering market to seek new solutions. Studies point to increasing demand for healthier food, options that support hydration and meals better tailored to individual needs. Yet personalised functional nutrition in commercial aviation remains at an early stage of development. This creates room for new solutions that combine nutrition science, passenger needs and the conditions of a specific flight, with the aim of supporting better wellbeing both during the journey and upon arrival at the destination,” says Linas Vaškys, CEO of UAB Litcargus.

He also notes that Aeriva and Litcargus bring a clear practical advantage to the project. The companies will develop functional food solutions for the aviation sector by drawing on more than 30 years of Litcargus’ experience in aircraft ground handling, its established infrastructure, logistics expertise and direct relationships with airlines.

Dr Gediminas Pauliukevičius, CEO of Northtown Vilnius, the operator of Vilnius City Innovation Industrial Park, sees the Aeriva and Litcargus project as a natural addition to the already strong community of innovators at VCIIP Bio. In his view, the solutions under development represent a promising new direction with strong potential to shape future industry trends as demand for higher-quality services for air passengers continues to grow.
